”Zack’s “Quick” Rundown: Let me start by saying, I don’t feel confident in a winner at all, and I love it. I could see this game going either way. Below is the position faceoff from my Model Z, and I was surprised to see that there was a tie and it’s hard not to want to do a side by side comp to pick a winner. For offense, the QBs are around the same level, Bengals have the RB edge, WRs are close, Cincy with the TE and the Rams have the significant OLine advantage. For defense, the Rams have that DLine advantage powered by Aaron Donald, but both teams are below average at Linebacker and the Bengals have the clear advantage in the secondary. Then for coaching, the Rams and McVay have the edge. It’s tough. The biggest narrative in this game is Aaron Donald against the OLine, right? Well I believe the Bengals have the ammo to beat that with a great running back who can catch too, Burrow’s ability to throw quick passes and run when necessary, his success against the blitz, and just plenty of weapons to choose from. So I’ll be going the other way and will go under 5.5 total sacks in the game.
So who’s the pick? I’m going with the Bengals. I think they do the quick passes on offense, keep everyone but Kupp in check on defense, and pull off a good one in LA! With the total, I’d love to go over, but the Bengals surprisingly slow pace of play this year (29th in the league) and the history of really slow starts with only 3 TOTAL touchdowns in the first quarter in the last 8 super bowls. Wow.
